How to lose baby weight.

The acquisition of the weight in pregnancy is both normal and necessary. The average woman acquires between 25 and 37 pounds during her pregnancy before full term. After giving birth, all women will lose some weight. However most of the women will have to struggle to lose the baby weight. Getting your body back will be realized by following a couple of steps.

Before you start any weight loss program, check with your doctor.

A healthy woman who gave birth vaginally must wait for 4 to 6 before starting some organized exercsie regime. The women that gave birth by means of cesarean section must wait for 8 weeks before starting an exercise program. Check with your doctor to be sure when you can start.

Set out with a goal on how you are going to lose the baby weight. Be realistic one to two pounds per week is a good aim for most of women. Do not try to lose weight very fast as this will affect your body making you have fatigue, it can also reduce your milk supply if you are breastfeeding. It may also add to postnatal stress.

The following are some of the things you can do to help you lose the baby weight.

Try to reduce the intake of comfort food. You can have all you can ice cream and cookies during the 9 months of pregnancy( this is not a good idea though, try eat healthy even during pregnancy), but when you have your baby, it is time to stop the excuse of comfort eating or eating for two! Take a honest look at you eating habits, note down the unhealthy, over sweetened or fatty foods and reduce them.

The following are some of the ways that can help you eat healthy after child birth.

  • Remove all soda, candy, cookies and all junk for your pantry and on your shopping list.
  • Drink more water to keep you well hydrated, for a good milk supply and to reduce cravings in addition to helping you lose weight.
  • Buy more vegetables, they will keep you full for long. Vegetables are mostly filled with good vitamins water and fiber.
  • Buy dried fruits and nuts to use as snacks.
  • Make yogurt and berries smoothies to drink when hungry.
  • Eat small meals all through the day.
  • Drink more green tea in between meals.
  • Eat more whole grain options.
  • Make delicious fat free vegetable soups and drink with whole grain breads and some proteins.
  • Those ideas and more will keep you well nourished and will help you lose baby weight fast since you are not adding any more fat into the body.

Exercise is very essential to help you lose baby weight rapidly. Walking is a very good option to consider. It is easy to start and stick with. Take a 10-20 minutes walk a day, this will help you stay active and will also lift your spirits. It will also get you out of the house if you walk outside. You can also get a gym membership if they happen to have child care. Start out with simple aerobic exercises,not more than thirty minutes.

Incorporate your baby in your trainings. You will lose baby weight fast if you can take your small one with you. Me and mummy classes are now available in many areas. You can also walk around with the baby in a sling or in a stroller. You can jog with the baby in a jogging stroller. The options are many. Do not carry the baby in your arms while going for a long walk.

There are many creative ways to get exercise. For example you can walk to the nearest public library. You can drive to a mall and walk around the mall with the baby in the stroller. Walk around your block or along a nature trail. Be creative and you will have no excuse about time.

Another form of exercsie is weight lifting. This is usually my best from of exercsie. Starting with small weights you can do weight training three times in a week The beauty of this form of exercsie is that you can do it at home while watching TV when the baby is sleeping. Weight lifting will also help you get flat abs after pregnancy

Women who breastfeed tend to lose baby weight faster. This is because the body uses a lot of calories to produce milk. The weight loss usually starts around 8-12 weeks when the baby starts to feed more and more. It is therefore an advantage to breastfeed even beyond six months as it will help you lose weight.

However it is important to note that you want to do very mild exercises, like walking, when you are breastfeeding to avoid having lactic acid in the milk or reducing your milk supply. If you exercise in a gym, then make sure you drain milk from the breast before feeding the baby.

Finally make sure you have a support system. Reach out to other mums in your neighborhood. Check out mum groups in your area. In the group find out which mums are trying to lose weight, join hands and have some groups strolls. Cheer each other in your new journey.

Losing baby weight is very possible, it may take time. Enjoy your time wit the baby and make sure you consult your doctor before you start any weight loss program. Eating healthy, walking, weight lifting are some of the best ways to start out on your weight loss journey after child birth.

I started running again.  I was breast feeding I stopped and now I have the freedom to go out and run, give honor to my body, to lose weight. It is painful very painful at the moment, since my muscles are just getting used to running again. But I cannot stop. why? Stay with me here it is for your benefit too.

I hate being fat.

I hate having to deal with extra fat on my belly, huge thighs are not fun for me. I want to keep fit, look slenedr and feel light.

There are many instances in my life when I have been overweight.

    • In my first year in college I was around 70 pounds overweight.
    • After the birth of my second child I was around 100 pounds overweight.
    • Now I am about fifty pounds overweight.

      I want to lose the fifty pounds fast.

      I know the inconveniences of being fat. If you do not know here are some of the reasons why you may want to lose the fat fast.

      I want my jeans to fit. You know how hard it is to fit jeans when you have some bulging heaps. It is a lot of work then you have to  walk around like a sausage. I do not like that. To make matter worse, sometimes your heaps are in reverse proportion to the waist.

      So you end up with a situation where your hips are a size 18 and waist is a size 16. Now you have jeans that are so wide in the waist area, you literally need a string to tie it in place. Then you may end up wanting to put on a maternity pant, since they have an elastic waist band. This is a real inconvenience.

      The second nasty thing about being overweight and wanting to lose the weight fast is the stomach fat. Stomach fat is nasty. You try to put on a nice looking dress or a top and there you have your top pulled up looking out of shape and the whole beauty of the dress just do not show.

      I do not like belly fat. The one thing with it is that it is very stubborn. It has to show and it does not go away even when you exercise.

      Thirdly being fat leads to some bruises. I did not know this until I got so huge in college. One day I was walking to visit my aunt. I was so bruised between the thighs. That night I was applying Vaseline to heal the bruises and swearing to lose the weight and never be fat again.  I said to hell with being fat, I must shed the fat. I cannot  add on pounds just  to have wounds.

      Just as critical it is to lose stomach fat, you also want to lose thigh fat.

      I am from a culture where being huge, fat even obese is considered being rich. Whenever I  try to lose weight my mum goes ballistic. The other year I went back looking so fit on my 5″6 frame, my mum was convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that I was either sick or my husband was torturing me.

      Well to be safe and stay away from obesity and diabetes, the fat grand twins, you have to keep fit. Exercise is really and honor to the body. In addition, apart from having a heavy breakfast, the other meals should be small just to reduce hunger not to fill you up to the brink of death.

      Every morning when I go out to exercise it is a pain running around and I feel like giving up. But I love the good feeling after the exercise, it is worth the pain, it makes me go out daily even on Sunday.

      • More oxygen to the lungs.
      • Reduce excess fat.
      • Enjoying nature if you run outside-this is the best way.
      • Makes you active and strong.

      Developing a weight loss plan for yourself is one of the best ways to start the process of losing weight.       When you exercise, let us say, running you inhale more and more oxygen into your body, you make the muscles stretch and contact, the muscles develop. The joints get well oiled. your brain activity increases, you will release endormorphins into the system, it helps to relives stress. In addition sweating is one way to get rid of toxins from the body. Let us just say in one sentence that if you include exercise in your weight loss program you will be move motivated to stay on track.

      Most workouts are not expensive, some like walking are free to start, except t for your time and some good shoes, there are no other costs, no pills, no diets, no ordering meals. you wake up, haul yourself out of the door and you are ready.

      In a study involving 133 overweight women, those with a genetic predisposition to benefit from a low-carbohydrate diet lost 2 1/2 times as much weight as those on the same diet without the predisposition. And the reason I write this today in my blogs because she did not use any pills or some magic diet but she exercised and stayed consistent to by eating right. It all gets down to exercise and eating right.       A study by Bloomberg reported on Feb 10 2010 has indicated that weight loss surgery is now more effective in providing a weight loss alternative to severely obese teens. The surgery involved being fitted with Allegan lab band device.

      Since most people do not follow through with lifestlye changes to lose weight, weight loss surgery is on the rise in the US. And with childhood obesity and teen obesity on the rise, these is an urgent need for such drastic measures. Children, teens and adults who are overweight have an increased risk of obesity. And believe me obesity and its effects will cripple the health-care system if it is not tackled now.

      This is a section from a report on the weight loss surgery in business week about the study; For the study, researchers at Melbourne’s Monash University followed 50 adolescents ages 14 to 18 over two years. All participants were deemed severely obese, having a body mass index, or BMI, greater than 35. Half were randomly selected for gastric banding and the remainder was asked to follow an individualized diet and exercise plan.

      After two years the results indicated that the group who underwent the weight loss surgery lost more weight than the ones who followed a change in lifestyle.

      It is important to note that weight loss surgery is not for everyone and with rising health care costs, instilling good eating habits and exercise in our children life is very important.
