A study by Bloomberg reported on Feb 10 2010 has indicated that weight loss surgery is now more effective in providing a weight loss alternative to severely obese teens. The surgery involved being fitted with Allegan lab band device.

After two years the results indicated that the group who underwent the weight loss surgery lost more weight than the ones who followed a change in lifestyle.
