The acquisition of the weight in pregnancy is both normal and necessary. The average woman acquires between 25 and 37 pounds during her pregnancy before full term. You can have all you can ice cream and cookies during the 9 months of pregnancy( this is not a good idea though, try eat healthy even during pregnancy), but when you have your baby, it is time to stop the excuse of comfort eating or eating for two! Take a honest look at you eating habits, note down the unhealthy, over sweetened or fatty foods and reduce them.

The following are some of the ways that can help you eat healthy after child birth.

  • Remove all soda, candy, cookies and all junk for your pantry and on your shopping list.
  • Drink more water to keep you well hydrated, for a good milk supply and to reduce cravings in addition to helping you lose weight.
  • Buy more vegetables, they will keep you full for long. Vegetables are mostly filled with good vitamins water and fiber.
  • Buy dried fruits and nuts to use as snacks.
  • Make yogurt and berries smoothies to drink when hungry.
  • Eat small meals all through the day.
  • Drink more green tea in between meals.
  • Eat more whole grain options.
  • Make delicious fat free vegetable soups and drink with whole grain breads and some proteins.
  • Those ideas and more will keep you well nourished and will help you lose baby weight fast since you are not adding any more fat into the body.

Exercise is very essential to help you lose baby weight rapidly. Walking is a very good option to consider. It is easy to start and stick with. Take a 10-20 minutes walk a day, this will help you stay active and will also lift your spirits. It will also get you out of the house if you walk outside. You can also get a gym membership if they happen to have child care. Start out with simple aerobic exercises,not more than thirty minutes.

Incorporate your baby in your trainings. You will lose baby weight fast if you can take your small one with you. Me and mummy classes are now available in many areas. You can also walk around with the baby in a sling or in a stroller. You can jog with the baby in a jogging stroller. The options are many. Do not carry the baby in your arms while going for a long walk.

There are many creative ways to get exercise. For example you can walk to the nearest public library. You can drive to a mall and walk around the mall with the baby in the stroller. Walk around your block or along a nature trail. Be creative and you will have no excuse about time.

Another form of exercsie is weight lifting. This is usually my best from of exercsie. Starting with small weights you can do weight training three times in a week The beauty of this form of exercsie is that you can do it at home while watching TV when the baby is sleeping. Weight lifting will also help you get flat abs after pregnancy

Women who breastfeed tend to lose baby weight faster. This is because the body uses a lot of calories to produce milk. The weight loss usually starts around 8-12 weeks when the baby starts to feed more and more. It is therefore an advantage to breastfeed even beyond six months as it will help you lose weight.

However it is important to note that you want to do very mild exercises, like walking, when you are breastfeeding to avoid having lactic acid in the milk or reducing your milk supply. If you exercise in a gym, then make sure you drain milk from the breast before feeding the baby.

Finally make sure you have a support system. Reach out to other mums in your neighborhood. Check out mum groups in your area. In the group find out which mums are trying to lose weight, join hands and have some groups strolls. Cheer each other in your new journey.

Losing baby weight is very possible, it may take time. Enjoy your time wit the baby and make sure you consult your doctor before you start any weight loss program. Eating healthy, walking, weight lifting are some of the best ways to start out on your weight loss journey after child birth.
