I am 18 yrs. old & i just started college. I have always been the BIG girl & i am tired of it. There’s some pretty good advice here already, but be careful not to set your calories too low right off the bat. You want to aim for 2 lbs per week. However, you will probably lose more initially. At some point you will stall and will need to do something different: increase work (cardio, weights) or decrease cals.

Good luck. And, frankly, it’s nice to see someone with a realistic goal for a change and not someone who wants to drop 30 lbs in the next three weeks.

i want to loose weight simply by exercising and eating better food. i was wandering if any of you have any good exercise routines, diets, tips, advice, ect. I weigh 165 lbs. and i dont know exactly how much weight i wanna loose but i know i wanna loose a few inches from my stomach.

1/ Nutrition (that’s food) is responsible for 90% of the result. This means if you work out lots but eat lots of junk, don’t expect much.

Include a few hills in your walk, good for the heart and blood system. If it’s raining take yourself to a museum or similar place, walk around and learn at the same time. Who said walking was dull and boring?

If you live in the outer suburbs try venturing into another suburb get a better sense of your community while walking. Stop along the way now and then and talk with some of your neighbors. Who knows what may happen, a new friend, a new romance or even be the originator of a walking group in your area.

There is just one thing that must be taken into account with walking as an exercise, that being good comfortable walking shoes. Make sure you buy good quality, it may cost a bit more but correctly will save blisters and sore feet, the perfect scenario for the excuse to kill off your new hobby.
